The Key to Success in a Tough Industry: Hard Work and No Complaints

If you don’t know who Al Roker is, well, that’s weird. The famous weather anchor joined NBC’s Today in 1996, and has been there since. You’ve also seen him on NBC Nightly News, hosting NBC’s Celebrity Family Feud, the Macy’s Day Parade, and in his own show on The Weather Channel, Wake Up With Al.

It was fitting that our interview was initially cancelled on account of, you guessed it, the weather. Luckily hurricane Joaquin slowed down enough for America’s favorite weatherman to spare twenty minutes for us. In between weather updates, we sat in his office on the 5th floor of New York City’s iconic 30 Rockefeller Center, and discussed his amazing career.

If you’re an aspiring broadcaster or entertainment entrepreneur, or just an Al fan, you will love this one! For more information about Al, visit AlRoker.com.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • The keys to Al’s success (6:56)
  • How Al keeps bouncing back (8:05)
  • How to deal with haters (11:46)
  • Advice for someone who wants to break into television (16:50)
  • Tips for beginning broadcasters (18:06)
